Distinguished fellow: Andrew Treusch

Andrew Treusch has had a long and varied career in the Public Service of Canada, which began in 1984 when he joined the Department of Finance Canada. Since then, he has worked in positions of increasing responsibility at the Privy Council Office, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, Environment Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency.

Mr. Treusch served as the Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) from 2012 to 2016. The CRA administers income, sales and other taxes; ensures compliance; and distributes benefit payments to millions of Canadians on behalf of governments across Canada. Mr. Treusch retired in June 2016.

  • Executive Director to the Competition Policy Review Panel, whose mandate was to review competition and investment policies and to report to the Minister of Industry. The Panel's report, "Compete to Win," was released in June 2008.
