The Government of Canada has a responsibility to seek out citizen input and stakeholder participation in its decision-making and policy development processes. This course provides a comprehensive overview of the basic components, benefits, drivers and challenges of stakeholder consultation and engagement in a federal context. Participants will learn about the stakeholder engagement planning cycle and the levels of public engagement, as well as how to evaluate the results of an engagement process.

Topics include:

  • defining the essential terms and components of consultation and engagement
  • designing a consultation and engagement process
  • managing and troubleshooting the engagement process
  • evaluating the results using the appropriate tools
