Harassment and Violence Prevention for Employees (W101)

Everyone deserves a place of work that is free from harassment and violence. This online self-paced course provides an overview of the Canada Labour Code, Part II, and the Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations, with a focus on the responsibilities of employees in the federal jurisdiction. Through examples and case studies, participants will acquire a basic understanding of the requirements and application of the Code and the Regulations, and learn how they can help prevent harassment and violence in their workplace.

Topics include:

  • recognizing harassment and violence at work
  • reporting and addressing harassment and violence, including family violence
  • understanding the key elements of a work place harassment and violence prevention policy
  • clarifying the resolution process
  • reviewing the support measures available to employees

This course is a prerequisite for:

To obtain a certification of completion, participants must complete the course and attain a passing mark of 80% on the final quiz. If 80% is not obtained within a maximum of three attempts, participants will need to manually unregister from the course and re-register to restart the course from the beginning.

Registration:

Eligible learners who wish to obtain a certificate of completion for this course must register using their GCcampus account. All other learners can register for a fee through the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.

Warning:

The case studies used in this course include scenarios of domestic violence and workplace harassment and violence that some learners may find upsetting. If you need to skip one or more of these case studies, you are free to do so.

Participants are encouraged to complete this course at a time and place that feels right, and to take breaks when needed. If you require support as you work through the material, please reach out to someone you trust and/or speak with your manager if you feel you cannot complete this course.
