Engaging with All Canadians Effectively in Government Communications

Description

It has never been more critical than during the COVID-19 pandemic that the government provide Canadians with information and messages that are clear. Our social and economic safety depends on it. But how do we, as public servants, ensure that we are reaching everyone in Canada? How do we remove the barriers that may prevent us from communicating clearly with all communities?

Register today for this virtual panel discussion with representatives from various community groups, who will discuss:

  • the barriers to effective communication
  • what public servants need to know in order to connect with communities more effectively
  • how inclusive language and an accessible approach are key considerations in engaging with everyone in Canada

Speakers

  • William Adair, Executive Director, Spinal Cord Injury Canada, and member of the COVID-19 Disability Advisory Group and the Accessibility Standards Canada Board of Directors
  • Avvy Go (MCSA), Clinic Director of the Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic and a founding steering committee member of Colour of Poverty – Colour of Change.

Moderator

Isabelle Mondou, Deputy Minister of COVID-19 Response Communications, Privy Council Office
