In recent years, a rise in political polarization in other countries has created toxic and de-stabilizing divisions that is an increasing concern for many Canadians, in that Canada may also be susceptible to these same pressures and could experience similar divisions.
This event will examine the state of polarization in Canada by exploring the boundaries, causes and impacts of political polarization in national and international social contexts. Speakers will discuss strategies that the Canadian government and citizens can use to nurture depolarization to avoid similar social consequences as those of our neighbouring countries.
Learn about the potential challenges for future decision-makers and the potential impacts that polarization could have on the design and delivery of government services and programs.
