Opening Doors for Indigenous Employment in the Public Service

As Deputy Minister Champion for Indigenous Federal Employees, Gina Wilson has been leading the work of the Interdepartmental Circles on Indigenous Representation over the last year. In doing so, she has had the opportunity to listen to Indigenous peoples, bargaining agent representatives, Indigenous public servants at all levels, and former Indigenous public servants who still care about the public service workplace.
By listening, she and the members of the Circles have learned how passionate and committed so many are to making the Public Service of Canada a workplace where Indigenous peoples feel welcomed, respected and supported, and where action is taken to ensure they are fully included. A final report was produced that brings together the views shared by many voices with the single-minded purpose of achieving a better public service workplace and a pathway to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
