Spotlight on ACCESSibility Series
The Canada School of Public Service, in collaboration with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, proudly presents a series of events on accessibility that will showcase different topics and themes from this unique perspective. Although the events target specific functional communities, all public servants are invited to attend.
Accessibility in Canada is about creating communities, workplaces, and services that enable everyone to participate fully in society without barriers. The recently adopted Accessible Canada Act provides for the development of accessibility standards and gives the Government of Canada the authority to work with stakeholders and persons with disabilities to create a new accessibility legal framework.

Employment
The Government of Canada is one of the largest employers in the country with nearly 300,000 employees from coast to coast to coast.
Yet many persons with disabilities report that they do not have access to federal employment opportunities and that they face numerous barriers to entering and remaining in the public service, along with low promotion rates.
Our guest experts, including those with lived experience, will share examples of how to improve recruitment, retention and promotion of persons with disabilities—and ensure that the Government becomes an employer of choice. Join us to learn more about the Accessibility Strategy for the Public Service of Canada and get tips and tools you can use immediately to help your organization meet its obligations under the new Accessible Canada Act.

The Accessibility Strategy for the Public Service of Canada envisions a reality where Government of Canada clients and employees can access and use all information and communications technologies, regardless of their ability or disability.
Today, however, the reality is that persons with disabilities continue to report many challenges in their workplaces related to use of plain language, sign language and access to alternative communication methods and tools.
Come meet experts and those with lived experience who will share examples of how to ensure that the Government of Canada's approach to communications meets or exceeds accessibility requirements. They will also provide advice on ensuring that communication tools and practices meet accessibility obligations under the new Accessible Canada Act.

The Accessibility Strategy for the Public Service of Canada envisions a reality where clients and employees of the Government of Canada have barrier-free access to and use of the federally owned and leased built environment. Currently, however, persons with disabilities report many challenges in their workplaces, which do not account for certain visible as well as invisible disabilities.
Join us as experts share examples of how the Government of Canada's workplaces can adhere to accessibility requirements. Get advice on ensuring that future service contracts include high standards for accessibility and meet obligations under the new Accessible Canada Act.
